Contract Awarded to Continue Building of Foothills Parkway in the Smoky Moutains
Agreement Granted to Continue Building of Foothills Parkway in the Smoky Moutains. Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have disclosed the honor of a $33.8 million contract to continue construction on the Missing Link of the Foothills Parkway. The Eastern Federal Lands Freeway Department (FHWA) made the award to the Lane Building Company of Charlotte, NC to establish as well as construct a significant portion of the uncompleted area of the Foothills Parkway between Walland, TN in addition to Wears Valley, TN. The recent contract is for the building of about one-half mile of the Parkway, including 3 bridges, two that will extend eastward from the Walland end, and likewise the 3rd to run western from the Wears Valley end.
