The AH -sixty four is an Assault Helicopter which is what the AH stands for. This helicopter was designed mainly to give the Military a weapons program which would be in a position to counter the huge armor benefit that the Soviet Union and the Warsaw pact had for the duration of the cold war.The biggest problem of the US army at this time was that our forces had been significantly outnumbered by opposing forces so outstanding technologies and tactics had to be developed in order to even the playing field.
