Kashmir was a condition of British India. In 1947 it acceded to India as the desire of an independent country collapsed with the invasion of the valley by Pakistan backed militants. Subsequently right after the failure of Pakistan to annex the valley even soon after two wars, the management in Pakistan made a decision to start a militant struggle towards the Indian army.
